Can I get cheaper flights to Australia than £642?

Hiya

I am planning on going to Australia in March 2010 and have found flights for from Heathrow on the £642 per person, is this cheap?

Or does anyone know where else I could perhaps get them cheaper, i am happier to fly economy with any airline, as long as the flight is not too long…stops dont bother me either!! =)

Thanks in advance…. xx

Most flights to Australia, take about 24 hours in the air. if you go with Singapore Airlines, QANTAS or British Airways, in March, the fare you have mentioned would be the one to expect, if it includes VAT. Avoid buying cheap tickets from ticket brokers as those tickets involve several changes and overnight stays, at your own expense. One of my colleagues travels between London and Singapore, once a month, with Singapore in the new Airbus 380 and loves it — as with many other things, with airline tickets, you get what you pay for — get quotes from a couple of high street travel agents.

£642 is actually OK – I don't think you'd find them much cheaper than that, to be honest. It's about what I paid to fly out in March '06.

Although more expensive, It would be much better value for money if you took in Australia as part of a round the world trip, as round the world tickets can be surprisingly cheap. It depends on whether that's an attractive option to you or not.

Best time to be buying long haul flights. Have you tried STA travel?

Malaysia Airlines and Air Asia always have crazy promotions on their prices so it's worth checking out from time to time. good luck and have fun!

Have you attempted ehow for a reply to this? They're pretty hot on this topic over there.
